a challenge from a "born again"

To heterosexual liberals, libertarians and atheists. It is predictable that you who read this may be so offended by the first question that you will flee from the rest of the post. I think some will have fled already. Be brave, read on. (Also to Christians challenged by the events of our day, who may as I do often want to flee to another world.)

A challenge to heterosexual liberals, libertarians and atheists:

Will you love the lesbian that recruits your daughter to the LGBTQ ranks? Or the “gay” man who sodomizes your 10 year old son?

Will you love the HETEROSEXUAL pervert who gets into your 10 year olds underwear? Will YOU love them?

We christians will love them, if WE are true to our God. But we will hate what they did to our children. This ought to make complete sense to anyone.

We do know how much hated christians are for trying to recruit the children of liberals and atheists. That used to be called child evangelism and is I fear very rare now as people keep evangelists away from their children. That is their right. REPEAT:  That is their right. Christians and Christ are so hated by some parents that they raise their children into young adults who hate us and Christ simply for naming Him as the God who IS!

We preach today at our own risk believing God’s way to lead to everlasting life.

I don't hate you Christ deniers. But I don't want to believe what you believe or live as that would require. THAT is what Hitler wanted of his white German/Aryan race, that they should believe and THINK and live as He did. When those Germans started to follow him as a god the Holocaust was the result of their worship (which lifted him to power). True christians don't want you to think and live as they do, they simply and only pray you will think and live as Jesus did.

The Christ denier will eventually discover that he/she hates Christ and Christians, all the while committing hypocrisy. They Christ followers to love them AND APPROVE the sin(s) they commit. Those sins are destroying their souls and bodies! It is hypocrisy because they approve for themselves what they condemn in us. !!!

As a Christian I love you, but not as you would have me love you. I love you as God does. He loved you enough to send Jesus to save you, to lift you out from the universal condemnation of all mankind, for ALL HAVE sinned. He loves you enough to send you preachers to announce to you His Mercy and Grace. But you insist on JUSTICE. God’s justice is very severe. But it is JUST and correct in a way the justice you seek is not. I fear the Christ denier wants justice with vengeance, and that is something no man may rightly have. We are not ourselves just (righteous) enough to execute vengeance. We are to partial to our own desires and our own friends. We exclude many from the mercy we could give because of things we are also guilty of! Read Romans Ch. 2 if you dare. That's a dare for believers too !!!

As hard as men and women try, the justice of human courts is imperfect. God’s justice is FLAWLESS. All have sinned and the payment for sin is that all die. And after that another final judgment may ensue.

God told the Jews:
“… I have hewed them by the prophets (preachers); I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth. For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me. (Hosea 6:5-7 KJV)
Jesus God the Son, told them too:
And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, “They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Matthew 9:11-13 KJV)
And on another occasion:
At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. But he said unto them, “Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.” (Matthew 12:1-8 KJV)

Jesus craves that men and women learn MERCY, but they crave sacrifice (the fines the law requires sinners pay). "MAKE HIM PAY for that," they cry. And still we want Justice??? If we do someone will surely cry about us, "MAKE THEM PAY." We need to hear again this God’s word, which my Bible subtitles: What Does the Lord Require?

“Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:6-8 KJV)

We are to DO justly. If we all did, there would be no craving among us for vengeance. Or are not our cries for justice really for vengeance? We are to LOVE mercy, and if we did and we were merciful, we would receive it from each other AND FROM God !!! If we DO justly and LOVE mercy then we WILL BE ABLE to walk humbly before our God !!!!

"Vengeance is MINE,"  saith the Lord. "I WILL repay."

a rock so big

a rock so big
an answer to the atheist’s challenge

Can God make a rock so big that He cannot move it? Yes. He has made millions upon millions of them; they are the hearts of men and women. Because God made them and gave them each free will, men and women are free to move or not to move. They are free to move or not to move, and they are free to BE moved or not to BE moved. They are as living stones (rocks) who can move them selves, but who often do not move even when God would show them how to move. They are free to ignore and or deny God who would move and help them to move. When a human being says “No” to God his or her heart is then the rock/stone so big that even God cannot move it. Why can’t He move it? I believe it has much to do with His “golden rule,” that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us. If we want God to leave our hearts unmoved He will leave them unmoved. He is not a tyrant. He is holy and will tell us what sin is. He is loving and gracious and will forgive us our sins. But when a man or woman wants to ignore or deny Him He does not coerce them to do otherwise.

We make our own decisions. God intends that we do. God is not a taskmaster. Free will is necessary that we be able to move or not to move into relationship with God and into relationship with others, significant or insignificant. To initiate or to decline to initiate, to respond or not to responded, to obey or disobey, to know or to ignore, God gives us our will that we may be sovereign like He is, though not God as He is. Our sovereignty is limited. Our ability is limited. Our knowledge is limited. Yet we are made by God in the image and likeness of God!

Life is good. The creation gives evidence of the Creators goodness. Yet evil is present. Yet even if we suffer evil, we want to live. Suicide is still rare; populations are still increasing. We may or may not move our heart into relationship with God our Maker, but the goodness of what God has made is not overcome altogether by evil. I believe if it were, we would all spin so far out of control morally that we would destroy ourselves totally. Our hope, our expectations for good things in our tomorrows, even if those good things are terribly stained with greed and violence, our hope motivates us to live. If the weakest, sickest and oldest of us want to live, how much more do the young, strong and healthy?

This writer believes in the Creator God. The visible universe is AWESOME. That we die seems an inexplicable event in the light of the beauty of what is seen. Evil is present in our world, yet of visible things it is humankind who do almost all the evil done! Yet we know that humankind also do much good.

The universe is a thing made of many things and they all have greater or lesser beauty and function. To be certain the existence of evil, of decay and of death provoke important questions. And mankind has a long history of grappling with the juxtaposition of good AND evil. The grappling, the fight to live in the presence of both good and evil suggests that mankind has a basic understanding of the goodness of things even when evil is present. Mold was the thing that was found to have antibiotic properties. The poppy was discovered to have anesthetic properties. Antibiotics and narcotics are used functionally to save lives and treat disease. Yet of each we can well say that “too much of a good thing” is dangerous. But of life can we say too much of it is not good?

If life is good, and good because the Creator made it good, why then are men and women greedy and angry and violent? Is God good or evil? Is He both? If God made the universe why does He not step in and make things right and altogether good? These are questions that can move our hearts to seek and to find Him.

God is not the ogre we may think He is. He almost defers to our choices. But God has created the world and all things to be ordered by His own natural and moral laws. When those are broken by us we experience consequences. Ingesting poison will make us sick. Putting poison is your spouse’s food will make them sick. Being greedy may move a man to steal. Being angry may move him to murder. God desires that we learn to choose good things; therefore evil choices result in evil consequences. If we refuse to be moved away from evil we will eventually learn “the hard way.” But the heart of a man or a woman need not be so big that God can’t move it. If life is good, and good because the Creator made it good, why then do so many men and women remain greedy and angry and violent? God made our hearts as small as they are and yet gives us the freedom not to be moved by anyone or anything, not even by Him! But what a BLESSING when we seek Him and find Him moving our hearts!!!

“… ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart …”
Proverbs 29:18

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes,
and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.”
Ezekiel 36:26-27

“It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Revelation 21:6-8

“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”
Revelation 22:17
