On race and racism:

On race and racism:

I'm a "white" human being and 🚫 = to Michael Jordan, Ben Carson, Venus Williams or Candace Owens. I am one of a kind.

There are many black men and women who are far more accomplished than I am in their vocations and likely their avocations too. Our value in each others eyes is not equal. But in God's eyes we are all equally of such great value that He sent His only and uniquely begotten and most valued Son to forgive us no matter how short or long our rap sheet is. If we start with that humbling gift of undeserved love (we deserved to pay for our crimes), we ought to be able to forgive anyone and everyone. Yes, the world is difficult and God's will is not so often done here as it is in heaven, But we must go forward with that goal "as in heaven."

It is very unlikely we will be anyone's equal. Not even in our own families are we equal to our own siblings or cousins. Even if given exactly equal opportunities we cannot expect equal outcomes. And I don't believe we can give exactly equal opportunities. The world is to complicated for that. In the church we need to focus on regarding others as better than ourselves, as worthy of our blessing and our help and our LOVE. It is only when we make our lives a sacrifice for others that we begin to love as God loves us.

Overcoming being colored.

{I am called a white person. But I'm just a very light skinned colored man.}

Jesus gave a famous two part answer: 1. Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind, soul and strength. 2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

I don't think enough people understand that these two Commandments can be inverted. The first is greater than the second and the second cannot be our priority. When we make the second our priority our neighbor becomes in the place of God. God takes a backseat and we ignore the guidance he would give us in favor of the approval of her neighbors, our family and our political allies. Unfortunately this will make us partisan. God loves all men and women and so should we. Matthew Chapter 5 talks about this in vs.'s 38 through 48. James rights that God is no respecter of persons.

Mankind suffers, we all suffer from the judgments we makes about our fellow man. In John 7:24 Jesus told the Pharisees to stop judge by appearances and start making righteous judgments. There is nothing so dangerous as judging by what appears to be so. The appearance of human epidermis (skin)  is a very small thing upon which to judge even one man let alone 12 million Americans or the Evangelical Church.

I don't know why we and forgotten what Martin Luther King said about the content of one's character versus the color of his skin. If we were more familiar with God's character we would be better able to live amongst those who seem a bit different than ourselves. Without wanting to draw attention to myself I think you should re-read this because it's really true.

To put your neighbor, your black neighbor in juxtaposition to the rest of America is divisive. To put the white Evangelical Church in juxtaposition to the rest of the church is divisive. The only division that we should be comfortable with are the divisions that God ordains. He divided the children of Israel from the Gentile world. But then he offered both Jew and Gentile the unity of the church. Not everyone chooses that. But it is really wrong to inspire white guilt in order to create multi-ethnic Church congregations.

I fear that most politicians have no understanding of the success they could enjoy if did not invert these Commandments. They say 83% of Americans call themselves Christians. as Paul said, "I would not have you ignorant, brethren..."

The pastor at a church I went to said from the pulpit that a denomination is a search for unity! That was more than 20 years ago and some things just stick with you! I understand what he was trying to say as this:  Unity in the congregation is a good thing.  But what we find is that Unity is the work of the Holy Spirit; when man puts his hands on it it suffers from his efforts. It doesn't matter whether he's teaching on Law and Grace or on Prosperity. Christian leaders better be followers of the Almighty and not pleasers of men or of themselves.  Don't invert the two famous Commandments. Do all in HIS NAME, even in His Spirit.

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. - Matthew 12:30 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew12:30&version=ASV

John said unto him, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbade him, because he followed not us.
But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man who shall do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is for us. - Mark 9:38-40 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark9:38-40&versio

Why do we allow others to give power to skin color? Why do we allow them to stop us from enjoying our lives without regard to our outer appearances? Why do we fight them and what do we hope to gain by fighting them?

There is a place for the church to be a very separated place, very sanctified and very sacred and very much for the people of God alone. What happens in the world is another thing and it's very hard if not impossible to have the world honor God's love and sensibilities.

2nd Timothy 3:12 shows clearly that if we wish to be good Christian people we will be persecuted. Jesus said that we shouldn't be surprised if the world hates us because it hated him first. John 15

The only way to overcome is through faith. I think it's in Revelation where it is written "this is the victory that overcomes the world even our faith." Paul wrote in Galatians 5:6 that "faith works by love." Faith is energized by love. We simply cannot comprehend what love is until we encounter God and are intimate with him in his love for us.

"...AND WITH FIRE."

The Lamb's PoetBaltimore Ground Zero ~ July 2019

I live in Southwest Baltimore, 2.2 miles from Pratt Street and Monroe Street which is Ground Zeroin the current left/right controversy. There you will find rats, mice, bed bugs and trash including used hypodermic needles. You'll find them in other areas of Baltimore too. I see rats in my backyard from time to time. When it gets cold in the winter time the mice find a way in my house. You'll find this in most major cities in America and not a few around the world.

It's unrealistic to expect National governments to solve these local problems. The first responsible for them are the residents. Obviously the residents here are not able to solve the problems that more than a few of their neighbors cause. Nor is it their responsibility! People, after all, are responsible for their own actions.

In the mid-1980s I drove a taxi here. I was driving in a neighborhood very close to Pratt and Monroe one afternoon. I smelled a bad smell. Not rats. Human waste. It was overpowering. I suspect it was a broken sewer line. In a well-to-do neighborhood there should have been public or private contractors fixing it. But this neighborhood was take your pick, infested with or inhabited by drug addicts and prostitutes. And, as you might imagine, also INHABITED by some very poor families. There were young children playing in the street. I wondered how long it had smelled that bad and how long it would smell that bad.

I came to Baltimore 43 years ago. Contrary to what you might have been told, my experience is that things have actually improved since that time. But not at Pratt and Monroe. And not everywhere in Baltimore. In 1976 I lived on Patterson Park Avenue directly across from the park. That is Southeast Baltimore. It was a stinking mess. Packs of dogs, 5 to 15 dogs at a time more or less ran through the park and the neighborhoods and defecated all over the sidewalks. The park was not well cared for. Trash was a problem. Now there is great improvement in that neighborhood. The city has eliminated the dog problem. The park is much nicer. You can walk the sidewalks comfortably. A good bit of the neighborhood on the south side of the park is relatively new construction. Some of these and other neighborhoods now gentrified were as bad as those near Pratt and Monroe are today.

Our Inner Harbor was a landscape of rotting creosote coated timbers and pilings, the ruins of wooden docks for a once very busy commercial port. Today it's a Marketplace built by the same people who rehabbed The Harbor at Boston Mass. It has a small Marina. It is home to the USS Constellation, a U.S. Navy warship commissioned in 1855. We have the USS Torsk, a U.S. submarine commissioned in 1944. We have a science museum and the National Aquarium! Commerce at the Inner Harbor was thriving for a good while. But the Obama administration caused economic decline from which it needs to recover. There are too many empty properties in what was once quite full of businesses.

The shoreline of the Inner Harbor eastward through Fells Point and on to the foot of Clinton Street has been developed into middle and upper middle class housing complete with marinas. It too was in great disrepair 1976. These improvements would never have come through socialism. It was pure and simple our capitalist economic freedom that improved the shoreline here. Socialism would never have done it. Socialism may destroy it! Welfare socialism is, I believe, almost entirely responsible for the mess at Pratt and Monroe.

Baltimore is 70% or more African American. But in here in Southwest Baltimore there are some number of poor whites, destitute whites and white drug addicts. It's not a racial problem, it's a human problem. Alcoholism used to be a very public problem in the poor neighborhoods. It's not so obvious now. Perhaps people prefer the cheap heroin and marijuana. West Baltimore is not the only place here where white and black suffer... DARE I SAY TOGETHER?

Finally I note that Baltimore has been called the evangelists graveyard. There are hundreds if not thousands of denominations and non-denominational congregations. All the main line and all the ancient denominations are here. Baltimore is headquarters for the Roman Catholics who have been here for 229 years. Perhaps we do not have heaven on Earth in Baltimore because Christendom is fractured here.

News flash: FYI: ATTEN:
The Messiah Jesus is only building one Church.

In the Lord's Prayer, more accurately called the disciples prayer, that is the prayer giving by the Lord to the disciples, we read: "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Certainly we should go about finding out what is being done in heaven.

Pacifism or Obedience?
Wed., March 11, 2015

Christians don't go to war with swords and guns. Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets and he did it how? By defending the lost sheep of the House of Israel? No.

John18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Did he send an Israeli Army out to convert the gentiles to Christianity? No. Jesus did not even defend His own sinless flesh! He did not call on Father 12 legions of angels.

Mathew 26:51 And behold, one of them that were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear. 52 Then saith Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into its place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53 Or thinkest thou that I cannot beseech my Father, and he shall even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then should the scriptures be fulfilled that thus it must be?

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

The world "gets peace" not gives peace, and it keeps it by bearing the sword and gun and by using them. And yet God Himself governs the outcomes.

2 Corinthians 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds

Luke 24:49 And behold, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city, until ye be clothed with power from on high.

A reason I believe this, more and more each day is because when the "church" if it was the church, wed the state and began to exercise national and international military and economic power, the "church's" abuses were so notorious and to rival Rome before Jesus came to Israel in the flesh. PRAY AND DO GOOD. LEAVE WAR TO GOD IN HEAVEN

Acts 10:37...you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, 41 not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

LEAVE WAR TO GOD IN HEAVEN.

Romans 13:1 ...For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, 4 for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.

I step down
from the throne my heart has claimed,
I smash down the idols I have raised,
I declare Your death, I immerse my soul
In all Your faith and the promise of Your Resurrection, Your Glory and Your Life.
You are meek and lowly in heart, I put You on,
O clothe me, Your servant, in Your righteousness,
Teach me Your Way, let me ever live for You.
Amen.

Peek-a-boo by Gerry Sutter

Peek-a-boo, peek-a-boo, diddily do –
Where’s the mud, its stain so true?
I ambled down the water way,
Swollen by the spring melee,
Nearly was I washed on through.

Peek-a-boo, peek-a-boo, telling you –
I thought I had it working too:
Early to bed and early to rise,
Put in steps to glamorize,
Followed up, I knew.

Peek-a-boo, peek-a-boo, seeing it through,
‘Til the Lord pointed out the fool.
Pestering proud of my jury rig,
Outside the box, I danced my jig,
Swept off my feet on through.

Peek-a-boo, peek-a-boo, whaddaya do?
Sweeping laurel flower’s dew.
I thought I was in charge of life –
Laid low like grass before the scythe,
Then I saw, it’s you.
