A New Song

Oh, Adonai Yeshua,

I sing to You a new song,

Of thanks and praise:

For Your mercy never ending,

New each morning.

Oh Yeshua, my Creator,

You do own my soul.

You have made me for Your purposes.

Help me Adonai,

To know them and to do them,

To obey You in each moment of this life.

Let my life be found in You, Yeshua.

You have commanded Your blessing:

Life forevermore.

There is no shadow or turning in Thee, my Father.

Let all the earth know Your Voice,

Let all that hath breath praise Thee.

By Thy great works Thou art known to us,

May Thy miracles again be known in our day.

Oh, Adonai, Thy Virtue is Perfect.

Oh, Adonai, be pleased to perfect it in me,

Yes, even in me.

Nothing else can satisfy me but Thy Presence,

Dwelling in me, my heart made holy in Thee.

Nothing else, no nothing else at all.

“Create in me a clean heart , Oh Adonai, and renew a right spirit within me.”

May those words be my request of Thee every moment of each day.

Instruct my heart oh, Adonai. Construct it, build it brand new.

Build it a place for Thy Presence, for Thy Truth.

Amein

Firefly

Thou firefly.

We see thee prick the dusk and then we sleep.
Thy gentle
Drops of Glow please our eyes, yet when we come close by thee

We see thou art a bug, albeit exceptionally.

I could wish men might remain afar from me,

That my moments of Illumination might be lauded of me.

But wisdom speaks that I must let them see me close, a bug...

Visiting Thee too infrequently, or the light would not fade so quickly or at all.

I must let men see me close, the bug sometimes with lamp a light.

One day I will fly to Jesus;

Then His Power will burn up all the bug.

I will be like My Master, like Him,
Altogether His own,
Whole

And all filled with Light,

Humbled forever, and no more defiled
A man Christ by the Cross did reconcile.

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

(Matthew 10:22-26 KJV)

The firefly seems an exceptional bug.

What if…
D. Severy June 2009

One day Father God seemed agitated and even a bit unnerved… or so it seemed to the angels. Some thought God looked different than He ever had before. They were themselves very concerned and they let the Holy Spirit know. He went to Father.

“Hallowed Father,” said Holy Spirit, “the angels are concerned. They say You don’t seem well.”

“What? I? Not well? I AM just fine. Never better!” He said. (And it truly is impossible for God to be better than He IS!)

“Yes, I knew as much,” said Holy Spirit. And so with a very Holy chuckle He went to reassure the angels that Father was as tip top as ever.

“The angels are concerned for me,” thought Father, “imagine that!”

As Jesus upheld all the universe by His Word’s great power Father looked on. “It would be nice to do something good for the angels,” Father mused and He began to deliberate. “Let me see… what I might make or even change for their entertainment. And where can I find the needed things?”

And so He began to examine the things of Their universe for Ideas. There was so very much to examine! He started searching in the galaxies, the stars and the heavenly bodies. They were all wonderful and well. The novas and super novas were all noving along superbly! The spiral galaxies just whirled round like tops! All the solar systems were orbiting in order. Their suns were illuminating at very acceptable levels. He checked out all His Laws of nature; all was well! Gravity was pulling its weight. Thermodynamics were operating very steadily; they always were a temperate bunch. There was just the right hotness, coolness, coldness and freezing off of your buns everywhere. One by one the legal systems and operations ledgers of all that was made were found to be in good, yea even in perfect order. And earth, ah yes! Earth was Covered.

“Well, I’m not surprised,” thought Father, “My Son has forever and always been the Epitome, the Veritable Zenith of Competence.”

“Jesus!” Father called out, “You are so dependable and stalwart. You don’t seem to mind exerting Your great power at all! Day by day, day in and day out You really ‘carry the ball’ so very well.”

Jesus replied “I love to do so just exactly as You have desired it to be done. It gives me my greatest joy to please You.”

“Everything is working together perfectly and You are certainly to be credited with this success,” said Father as He enjoyed the fruits of His faithful One. “Son, what is there that I might do for the angels? They have been worried about me; can you believe it? Can you suggest anything I might do, or something I might give them? I love them each and all so very much.”

Jesus noticed a quite lively twinkle in Father’s eye as He replied, “Everything We have is theirs too, and as We want for nothing, so it is that they also want for nothing.”

“Yes, it is true,” Father agreed. “But there is one thing…” He paused.

“Yes,” said the Lord.

Suddenly Father looked on His Son with an Enormous, Deep Love and Tremendously Intense Affection-- it was truly Profound. It seemed that Holy Spirit left every corner of the universe to be Entirely Present with Them. Both Jesus and Holy Spirit were stirred to Their Core. So Powerful in the Beauty of His Holiness was Father in this moment that it called Them to respond in just the same Way. Their Awesomeness began to unfold; it was Dreadful… but in a Good Way!

The Power, the Glory, the Majesty of God Most High, of God the Son and Savior, and of God the Eternal Spirit was being manifold magnified. Love was there, The Word Alive, God by all His Name, and something new was truly on Father’s Mind.

Everywhere the angels sat upright, ceasing from their joyful duties. Was something different? Yes. And the effect was energizing. Except for the Unity of God, the Perfection of His Will and the Soundness of His Mind, the Power of God in this new thing could have just flattened and obliterated the entire physical universe.

Jesus looked upon His Father. The Holy Spirit looked upon Them Both. The angels held their peace; almost as one they fell on their faces toward the Throne of the Almighty. Heaven was silent (for how long this writer dares not say).

If they were able to see Them, the angels would have seen a Joy unspeakable and full of Glory which may never have been revealed in such a way till that moment. God was doing a new thing! The Father seemed near to speaking. The Son looked all ears. Holy Spirit beamed out, just plastering the Throne Room with a depth of Peace very rarely seen, or rather felt, for the angels, from the nearest to those in the furthest reaches of heaven and earth, all felt His Love and Peace wash over them, lavishing them with Waves of Joyous Power.

It is just not possible to describe well the advent of this new thing. Had a man seen God in that moment he would have been so overcome by the blessing, it is difficult to imagine the effect on him. I dare say such a man might not remain in his flesh and blood.

Both Jesus and Holy Spirit could have made a confident guess as to what this new thing was, if They were the kind who guessed at things (as this writer does here).

If ever our Father had reason to be agitated or unnerved, or rather if it were ever even possible for Him to be so, it might only be by this singular new thing, this very thing of which He would soon, even now, speak.

“Go, My Son, go!”

Father’s utterance was more than a shout, better than a lion’s roar, it was full of all His Joy and Goodness. It was also grounded with a Soberness and a Graveness that caused all heaven to tremble. It had the sound of myriads of thunders.

It was clear to all what this new thing was and what it meant. Every corner of heaven heard the Decree. How the angels wanted to stand, to cheer and to dance, but not just yet!

“Go again to the earth We have fashioned, go amongst the people We have made in Our Image. Go to the People called by Our Name, who are waiting for You, and crying out to Us, for this their Day and all our great Joy. Go and bring the church Your Bride , bring her up to Us! It is time!”

Every pillar was shaking as Father now spoke once more.

“Go, begin and bring in the End of all things! Go again My Beloved Son!”

And then a shofar sounded out the like of which had never ever been heard before. Jesus smiled a Smile that could have in one instant cheered forever all that have ever lived on earth; it was certainly the Smile of a King. And He went again.

who...?

Who do you love,

Who do you trust,

Who do you thank that you live,

Who do you want to be next to your side when your weary long day is done?

Who do you believe for the words which they speak,

Who do you go to for the things that you need?

Who is in your world, with whom are you safe,

Who will you want to be guarding your back?

Who will you have to care for your child,

Who will you want when evil attacks,

Who? when no one is there in your loneliness?

Who can meet every need and desire?

Who?

Even so...

Precious Name of Jesus,

Mighty Name of God,

Holy One of Israel,

You whom we do love…

Guard our hearts and persons

With power from on High,

You are more than able

To answer this our cry:

Maranatha, Maranatha,

Even so Lord come;

Though all is not as we would like

An end is promised, come.

Blessed Name Yeshua,

Foretold Savior Lord,

Great is Your salvation,

Promise of Your Word.

As the door is closing

Quickly usher in

Loved Ones, friends and strangers

Weary of their sin.

Even so Lord Jesus,

Maranatha, Lord.

When Father says it’s finished

We’ll all join Thy accord.

Anointed, Blest and Holy

Thy Holy Spirit shows

A Royal King and Lord of all

For Whom we humbly bow.

Come O come again to rule

This earth now weary worn.

Order all as You have planned

Before the worlds were born.

Traveler

The road is bending, bending….

And I am leaning, leaning turning

To the flow…

Am I sinking down below?

The door is closing, closing….

And I am rushing, rushing hoping

But oh no…

Am I standing all alone?

The mysteries rush past me.

Never quick, am I enough?

Others laugh, they wink and seem to say

“The right stuff,

Yeah, yeah we got that stuff…”

Never mind what they are saying,

They know nothing of your heart,

There’s no peace in what they’re playing

Or in what they have got.

The lie was that there was no truth

Yet the truth is, and not a lie.

And now the road is bending once again

Leading to a solemn door…

If there’s life inside your bosom,

If there’s light behind your eye,

If your asking for an answer

And your willing to deny

The things that stand between you and holiness:

Your foils, your foolishness

Evil secrets, evil ties

Come now soul, to Life: arise!

If your grateful you are living,

If your seeking something more

Than just a road to your own gravesite,

If you want that open door

Be brave to call out to your Maker,

O now call Him by His Name.

It is Jesus who is calling out to you

So His Word proclaims, so His Word proclaims.

Yah

Listen for His footsteps

Listen for His love

Listen for the rustle of His robe

Listen: the rejoicing! All the earth proclaims His worth

God Creator Jesus Savior Lord

His melody is ageless

His harmony divine

His endless rhythm

tranquil and sublime

Hark: He comes to save all who call upon His Name

Holy Spirit Peace Deliverer Dove

Your Presence (is enough)

Lord, Your Presence is enough.

Like the warm winter clothes I wear, I seek Your Presence,

Like a cool ocean breeze in the heat of summer,

A crisp autumn wind and an April rain shower.

As all that has breath ought praise You, I do.

Lord, Your Presence is manifest,

To those who have been born again.

From above You have opened our ears,

You have spoken in our ears.

Your Word is marvelous to us.

Lord, Your Presence is our shelter and fortress.

All we will ever need or ever have comes from above;

Our Father- and Yours- gives so mercifully into our weakness;

Your strength He pours into our heart and soul.

You are our Rock, and there is no other like You.

Lord God of Hosts, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,

In all the earth, in all the heavens,

On every mountain, in every square, in every hidden place,

And beyond all our comprehension and understanding of things that are,

You are.

Lord Your Presence is enough, and more…

1 Samuel 2:2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee:

neither is there any rock like our God.

Every Day Horror

Every day- though not in every place, men do noble deeds. And we shut our eyes.

Yes, the horrors rage, and the blood flows in the streets.

And yet Life carries us. It is effortless for Him to do so.

But so often we go naked.

Every day the horrors rage. But we shut our eyes.

Yes, the world is beautiful, the scenery often dazzling,

But death stalks us. It too, is effortless for death to do it.

And death succeeds in his every effort, be it soon or late.

We don’t need to be naked, and shouldn’t want to be,

Nor should we die naked.

But today’s man loves nudity.

“Mother Nature” seems a woman scorned, brewing winds which rage and churn.

Fires burn down our best efforts, quakes topple them and floods leave them soaked ruins or just float them off. “Mother Nature” seems to want to strip us bare.

Yet there is still more tranquility than violence in the weather.

Amongst men there is greed. There is lust. There is war. Pride has blinded us. Desire has led us. Science has confused us. Money has made us filthy. People have hurt us and our neighbors have offended us. The poor have begged from us, the merchants have enchanted us and our creditors now dun us. The government has taxed us and drafted our sons for their wars, which we have too often made our own, so that we may live in “peace” and affluence. And politicians have promised us everything we wanted, but they did or could not give it to us for they were too busy being full of themselves. And we grew fatter in spite of the burdens they did give, grew and still grow more passive and complacent, comfortable in our luxury and more inflamed in our voluptuous entertainments. We live everyday in the tranquil horror of this raging comedy of errors. And we do laugh. Oh, but I do fear He who will have the last laugh.

He’s Still There

(for those who remember the Zombies and their song

She’s Not There, this a rewrite of the lyric

to be set to that tune)

Did someone tell you about Him- the crucified?

And of the reason God sent Him- and why He died?

It’s not too late if you are sorry,

And if your life- is in despair

Take the time to seek and find Him

O He’s still there…

Let me tell you of this One from God,

and what He said - the message that he brought

His voice was loud and right,

His eyes were clear and bright

And He’s still there…

If no one tells you about Him, what will He do

If no one tells you about Him, o what can you do

Might get too late to say you're sorry

If your not told, how will you dare

To take the time to seek and find Him

For He’s still there...

Well let me tell you what He did for us,

Defeating hell and death, the power of His Word

He spoke and calmed the sea,

He died to set you free,

And He’s still there.

May I tell you that His love - for you is true

And He lives and that your life - He may renew

If for your sin you are truly sorry

And will give up your evil ways

Know that in seeking you will find Him

Yes He’s still there....

Please don’t delay to say your sorry,

It was for you He died up on the tree,

For the sins we did He suffered,

And He’s still there.... for you and me.

So let us come to Him, receive His Life

and the power of His love.

His hand held out to you

can all your sin undo,

Yes HE’S STILL THERE.

Needy One

O Lord I come, the needy one

Thou art satisfied.

What is to come is no surprise

To Thee, the Lamb who died.

My helpless heart must humble be

Receiving from Thy hand,

That which I need to dutifully

Obey Thy Good Commands.

The fears we have within our souls

Let not them still our hands, our feet,

O, let fear draw us unto Thee,

Unto Thy Mercy Seat.

To Thee O God, Thou bid all: “Come.”

By Christ alone they may,

And must, to gain in time of need

By faith Thy Grace which saves.

I Dream

I dream...

Of a day that needs no plan for war.

Of a place that needs no maintenance.

Of a life that cannot fail and success is forever existential.

Of a community where strife is unthinkable and never entertained.

Of being completely and unendingly safe.

Of being whole and unbreakable.

Of God's grace uninterrupted. Of His will without opposition. Of His purpose accomplished.

Of no more problems, questions, frustrations, falsehoods, failures or disappointments.

Of love.

Thomas asked him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus told him,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.If you have known me, you will also know my Father. From now on you know him and have seen him. - John 14:5-7

Never worry about anything. Instead, in every situation let your petitions be made known to God through prayers and requests, with thanksgiving. Then God’s peace, which goes far beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your hearts and minds in union with
the Messiah Jesus.
 - Philippians 4:6-7

Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.
- Ephesians 3:20-21
