It is what it IS... but WHAT IS IT ???

Around this time of the year there some attention is given to the 31st of October. For some it is just another day. For others it is a time of celebration. It's important that we understand that celebration is the highest form of worship. Who celebrates what they do not value? Who celebrates what they call dishonorable? Yet many celebrate what is called Halloween in ignorance of its history, it's source and the one it's celebration worships. Their ignorance is more dangerous for them than Halloween itself.

Who goes to a birthday party not knowing whose birthday is being celebrated? Or, at the least, who goes and returns from a birthday party remaining ignorant of the one born that day? Yet every year people show up on October 31st to celebrate what amounts to a birthday party for Satan himself. It is his high UNholy day.

Do we not see and know that Good and evil exist? Do we not see and know that there is a difference between Good and evil? Do we not understand that the the source of all Good is God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, The God who made the heavens and the Earth, who made all therein and man in Their image and likeness? And yet does not history show that humankind whom God called very Good has been corrupted by evil and is destined to die? And is there no explanation for this?

"But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, evil men who push away the truth from them. For the truth about God is known to them instinctively; God has put this knowledge in their hearts. Since earliest times men have seen the earth and sky and all God made, and have known of his existence and great eternal power. So they will have no excuse when they stand before God at Judgment Day. Yes, they knew about him all right, but they wouldn’t admit it or worship him or even thank him for all his daily care.  And after a while they began to think up silly ideas of what God was like and what he wanted them to do. The result was that their foolish minds became dark and confused. Claiming themselves to be wise without God, they became utter fools instead. And then, instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they took wood and stone and made idols for themselves, carving them to look like mere birds and animals and snakes and puny men." - Romans 1:18-23

How did the human race become corrupted?

The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made.  One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”

“Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”

“You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”

The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”

“Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?”

The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”

Then the Lord God asked the woman, “What have you done?”

“The serpent deceived me,” she replied. “That’s why I ate it.”

Then the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Then he said to the woman, “I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.”

And to the man he said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.”

Then the man—Adam—named his wife Eve, because she would be the mother of all who live. And the Lord God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife.

Then the Lord God said, “Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!”

So the Lord God banished them from the Garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate the ground from which he had been made. After sending them out, the Lord God stationed mighty cherubim to the east of the Garden of Eden. And he placed a flaming sword that flashed back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. - Genesis 3:1-24

God allowed that serpent who we call Satan into the garden. God's glorious purpose was to bring man back from his corrupt state into eternal community with Him. And in the process God would demonstrate His absolute authority over all that He created. Satan had been discovered plotting to overthrow God. Ever since God removed Satan out of his heavenly position hating God and man Satan has taking full advantage of humanity's corrupt state attempting to destroy man and even destroy God.

Halloween, which so many call an innocent "party," is rooted in the largely unseen heavenly realm of Satan. People dress up as ghosts (spirits) skeletons, witches, sorcerers, monsters and demons. All these things celebrate death. But God created life.

Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” - Genesis 2:8-9,15-17

Because man ate the fruit of this tree he died. Satan deceived his wife and she ate it's fruit. She offered the fruit to her husband and he ate it. And they died. From that point forward all persons ever born would die.

If seeing the heavens and the earth and all the things on earth are evidence of God's being, if being ignorant of this man is without excuse, how much more inexcusable is the ignorance of history? And is the Bible not God's historic word? There's a popular phrase today: "It is what it is." When Moses asked God who he should tell the children of Israel had sent him into Egypt to rescue them God told him:

"I am that I am: Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I am hath sent me unto you." - Exodus 3:14

God is who He is. You are who you are! Things are what they are! There is a reality about everything. We may not understand it. We may not understand all of it. We may understand very little of it. But God knows and understands all things. Most people do not understand Halloween's reality. They do not understand what it is they are CELEBRATING, what they are WORSHIPING. If they did they would stop. They would at least find some other GOOD activity to participate in on October 31st. Halloween is not just a waste of time. It is is celebration of trickery, death and Satan.

John 10 (ASV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
⁹ I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.
¹⁰ The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have [it] abundantly.
¹¹ I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.

1 John 3 (ASV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
⁷ [My] little children, let no man lead you astray: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous:
⁸ he that doeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. To this end was the Son of God manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1 Corinthians 15 (ASV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
²¹ For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead.
²² For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
²³ But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; then they that are Christ's, at his coming.
²⁴ Then [cometh] the end, when he shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have abolished all rule and all authority and power.
²⁵ For he must reign, till he hath put all his enemies under his feet.
²⁶ The last enemy that shall be abolished is death.

1 Corinthians 15 (ASV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
⁴⁵ So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam [became] a life-giving spirit.
⁴⁶ Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.
⁴⁷ The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.
⁴⁸ As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
⁴⁹ And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
⁵⁰ Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
⁵¹ Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,
⁵² in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
⁵⁴ But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
⁵⁵ O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?
⁵⁶ The sting of death is sin; and the power of sin is the law:
⁵⁷ but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

050 -- THE DYING EXPERIENCE OF A WEALTHY MAN He had spent his life amassing a fortune of $75,000, but had never given any special attention to his soul's salvation. When he came to die his wealth was no satisfaction to him, but, on the contrary, it cost him great anguish to fully realize that he had spent his life in amassing wealth to the neglect of his soul. In this dying condition he called in his brother-in-law to pray for him, who said he called so loudly for mercy that he could scarcely hear himself pray or fix his thoughts on anything. After the prayer was over, he took his hand in both of his, and said as he shook it, "Good-bye, John. Pray for me. I shall never see your face again." And he never did. After he had gone away, a neighbor came in and saw the condition he was in, and said something must be done. "I would suggest that we do something to quiet his mind and fears," and so he recommended a game of cards. He replied, "Cards for a dying man! How contemptible; going into eternity. These are not what I want. I want mercy!" A little later his son came into his room and said, "Father, what arrangements, if any, do you wish to make in regard to the property?" He said, "I have given all my life to gain property; I cannot take a dollar with me. The law and the family will have to take care of that: I want to take care of my soul. Property avails nothing; I want mercy!" And so he died, calling upon God for mercy; but he left no evidence that he found it. An illustration of giving a life for the gain of property to the loss of the soul. -- The Word.

051 --  LAST  WORDS  OF  JOHN HUS, THE  MARTYR The great  Bohemian  reformer  and martyr,  John Hus,  was  born in 1369.  He was burned at the stake  as  a  heretic in Constance,  Germany,  July  6, 1415.  When arriving  at the place  of execution, he prayed,  "Into  Thy  hands,  O  Lord, do I  commit my  spirit.  Thou hast  redeemed me, O  most good  and faithful God.  Lord Jesus Christ,  assist  and  help  me, that,  with  a firm and  present mind, by  Thy  most powerful  graces I  may  undergo this most cruel and  ignominious death, to  which  I am condemned for  preaching the  truth of  Thy  most  holy  gospel." When  the  wood  was  piled  up  to his  very  neck,  the Duke  of Bavaria asked him  to recant.  "No," said  Hus,  "I never  preached  any  doctrine  of an evil tendency,  and what  I taught with  my  lips,  I  now  seal  with  my  blood."  The  fagots  were  then lighted and the  martyr  sung  a  hymn so  loud  as to be heard through the crackling of the flames.
